“I’m Sharmila Schumacher, a lifestyle and wedding photographer based on the Central Coast, NSW, Australia, drawn to the quiet, unspoken moments that often go unnoticed. I’ve learned that the most meaningful stories aren’t always loud, they’re found in the way someone reaches for a hand, the soft pause before a laugh, or the warmth shared within a family home. That’s what I’m here to capture.
If I had to describe my photography style in three words, they would be romantic, documentary, and soulful. I work a little like a fly on the wall, observing, listening, and letting moments unfold naturally, while still guiding with gentle prompts that encourage connection, movement, and genuine emotion. It’s the blend of honest storytelling and soft romance that feels true to me.
I hope people feel warmth, nostalgia, and a sense of being deeply understood when they look at my work. My inspiration comes from real people and the small in-between moments that reveal who they are and how they love.
At the heart of it all, I want to create photographs that feel real and lived-in, images you can return to years from now and still feel the tenderness of that exact moment. My work is a love letter to honest connection, captured quietly and intentionally, with a little romance woven in.”

“My name is Kristi, a motherhood and family photographer based in Newcastle, Australia. As a mother of three beautiful children who shape how I see the world, I’m drawn to adventure, connection, and artistic imagery.
My work weaves mothers and families into places that matter to them, where light, landscape, and connection come together in an artistic and considered way.
For me, pregnancy has always felt, in some way, otherworldly. To grow a human — to watch the growing curve of your stomach, to feel flutters turn into kicks, tiny hiccups within the womb— it feels almost beyond explanation. There is a blooming that happens not only in the body, but in the heart. An expansion of love, of resilience, of surrender to the unknown. Alongside the joy, there is vulnerability; alongside the wonder, there is intensity; a rawness that is as powerful as it is humbling.
What mothers do, growing life while continuing to show up for everything else, feels extraordinary. Sometimes I find myself thinking how a heavily pregnant woman can stroll through sand dunes, perch on ocean-worn rocks as waves crash at her feet, or walk along a deserted beach at sunrise with mountains rising behind her? And yet, she does.
To me, these images are symbolic of motherhood itself. Of the quiet strength mothers carry every day, at home, at work, in the unseen moments of caring, holding, nurturing. It’s this quiet strength I want to capture. The beauty of pregnancy, yes, but also the way love allows us to do truly remarkable things.
This is what I want for every maternity client I photograph. To be seen in that space where something can feel both otherworldly and deeply human at the same time. I want my maternity clients to look back one day and be so proud of how amazing they truly are. “
